With less than a month to the end of the deadline by the Nigerian Communication Commission ordering telecommunications companies to deactivate telephone lines of subscribers who failed to link their phones to their National Identity Number.

Some Residents of Effurun in Uvwie local government area of Delta state have called on the federal government to prevail on the NCC to extend the date as a result of the slow process, alleged sharp practices and noncompliance with COVID-19 protocols. 

Expressing their displeasure, the residents said the registration process takes a long time amid paying for registration and not complying with the use of face masks to prevent COVID-19 spread.

The registration exercise is expected to come to an end come February 9^th this year except the federal government intervenes by extending the date.
