Link with Terrorism: Elumelu Asks Pantemi to Resign

The minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu has joined the call for the removal or resignation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami over his link with the terrorist groups. 

At the commencement of Wednesday's plenary, Elumelu raised an order of privilege, noting that since the allegation came public, and trending on both social and conventional media the minister should the path of honour.

According to him, his privilege as a member was affected, and that he was not comfortable that the House was not saying anything.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, Yusuf Gagdi has absolved the National Assembly, and the Department of State Services (DSS) of blames for not spotting such antecedence of the minister during his screening.

Addressing journalists today, the lawmaker said, he would not say that DSS and the National Assembly acted in error.

He said DSS are not God and cannot get every information about every individual during confirmation but expressed surprise that the minister was screened and no individual out of over 180 million Nigerians was able to remember such comments he made and possibly, write a petition to the National Assembly.

Yusuf said the comments of the minister have great security consequences on the security perception of the country and should not be treated with carelessness.
