Jamb clears Air Inability of Graduates to Participate in NYSC

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has absolved itself of any blame in the inability of some HND Graduates to participate in the Mandatory one year National Youth Service.

The examination body in a statement by its Spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, emphasized that it has no involvement, authority or control over the admissions process for HND candidates saying, it's mandate, as stated in Section 5(2) of its establishing law, is limited to determining matriculation requirements and conducting examinations leading to undergraduate admissions, as well as admissions to National Diploma and Nigerian Certificate in Education courses.

JAMB said it has no power to admit these candidates to their HND programs, as this falls outside its mandate, saying the Board only condoned and endorsed their admission to ND programs, and its relationship with these candidates ended there.

The statement added that accusations against JAMB on matters it has no mandate are unfounded and preposterous noting that Some of the candidates have crossed the lines of criminality, which the Board will address appropriately. It however, urged the public to disregard these accusations and understand that JAMB has no role in HND admissions.
