INEC: PDP Takes Protest against Lauretta Onochie to National Assembly

Opposition People's Democratic Party PDP has urged the Senate to stop any plan of confirming President Buhari's aide on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, INEC National Commissioner.

The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus led members of the National Working Committee of his party and loyalists of other parties to the Senate Wednesday in protest of Buhari's choice of INEC Commissioner.

PDP has repeatedly faulted Onochie's nomination, arguing that her confirmation for the INEC post will compromise the integrity of elections, being a card-carrying member of the APC.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the PDP Chair along with the Senate Minority Leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe, restated the position of their party on the matter.

Buhari's request for confirmation of Lauretta Onochie was read at plenary twice, first on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, and recently on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
