The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun said no ransom was paid for the rescue of the 20 medical students abducted in Benue State and others, clarifying that all victims were tactically rescued from their abductors by security operatives.

He made this known while receiving the 20 rescue medical students of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) and University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) who were abducted in Benue State and seven others abductees in Abuja. He said the rescue was achieved with the help of the national security adviser and in synergy with other security agencies and communities

The police boss added that during the operation,the police officers engaged the kidnappers in a well coordinated manner while adding that, the kingpins have been neutralized while two other suspects have been arrested

The representative of the Nigeria medical association,the vice chancellor university of Jos, vice chancellor university of Maiduguri and as well as the representative of the governor of Benue state commended the security forces

The Inspector General of Police however said the Police Force remains resolute in its mission to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians, and it will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace, stability, and the rule of law throughout the country.

Recall that the medical students and their accompanying doctors were kidnapped on Thursday the 15th of August while on their way to a medical convention.
