Hunger is killing our people – Obaseki Warned
The Coordinator of Citizens Movement of Nigeria Comrade Paul Oyarenua, has called on governor Godwin Obaseki, to evolve a more realistic and pragmatic approach to assuage the sufferings of Edo people during this lockdown, saying the rate of hunger among the people is devastating.
Comrade Paul Oyarenua made this known during a peaceful protest to the Edo council secretariat of the Nigeria Union of journalist in Benin to press home their demands against the lockdown order by the state government.
Comrade Oyarenua, lamented “hunger is killing our people more than the deadly disease” he said. Despite not providing the essential items, one have to wonder what formula government used in sharing money for Edo peoples which never got to the people.”
On his part, Comrade James Omorogbe said with this hardship meted on Edo people by coronavirus disease, despite the little salaries our peoples is receiving government is saying that they are not going to pay them their full wages.
However receiving the protesters at the Nigeria Union of journalist Edo state Council Comrade Titus Akhigbe the state secretary said that he believes in the leadership of Mr Godwin Obaseki, that he will not allow hunger to kill our peoples here in Edo but encourage the protesters to go on a peaceful protest without creating problems in the state.
