Governor Obaseki expresses condolence over herdsmen attack

Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed his reactions towards the killing of two women from the Ewu community in Edo state.


According to an eyewitness account, the victims were killed by suspected herdsmen who recently invaded their community.

In his condolence message, the Governor assured the community of adequate and one hundred percent security.

Governor Obaseki, gave the assurance when he visited the affected families and community in Ewu in Esan central local government area of Edo state to commiserate with them.

The governor, who expressed his condolences to the affected families and community, said the attack on the community was not herdsmen but Boko Haram who has unleashed this terror.

The two women, identified simply as Mrs Christiana Ariu from Eko-Ojeme quarters and Mrs Matina Enoyon, from Uzogolo quarters all in Ewu community where in their farms when they were attacked and killed by suspected herdsmen last week.

 The situation which has generated so much fear was doused when the state governor assured of security presence in the community.

According to one of the elders and leader of the community, who received the governor on the visit, Sidney Ikhajiagbe, said the attack on two of their sisters has devastated them and called on the governor to help them beef up more security to further stop this attack.

However, the Governor promised to do everything possible to stop a recurrence of this attack in the state while calling on the people of the community to avail the police information of any suspicious movement around them.
