As part of measures to improve the standard of education in the state through training and retraining of teachers, the Delta state ministry of basic and secondary education have organized a one day workshop for public school teachers.

The workshop which was held in Asaba, the state capital, is geared towards promoting excellence in government-owned schools. 

Addressing the teachers on the need to show commitment and dedication in improving the education standard, the commissioner for Basic and secondary education, Chiedu Ebie said poor performance will spell doom for the state educational system.

The workshop which could be described as a timely one regarding the poor performance of students in the past West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), had in attendance permanent secretaries from the ministry of education, as well as teachers from the twenty-five local government councils in the state.
