Court rejects bail application for Fubara's Loyalists.

 

Justice Bolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court Abuja has rejected the bail applications put forward by three of the five suspects arrested in connection with the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Recall that out of the five suspects, three of them applied for bail on the ground of ill health, while the bail applications were heard last week Friday.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Justice Olajuwon in her ruling on the applications reviewed the position of the prosecution and Defence Counsels on the applications, which bothered on the health conditions of the applicants.

She maintained that the defendants are charged with capital offence, which bother on terrorism, which requires extra Circumstances evidence noting that, Counsels to the defendants failed to supply this in thr applications before the court.

Justice Olajuwon added that there is no evidence to the fact that the facilities at the Correctional center cannot meet the health needs of the defendants.

The Presiding Judge maintained that the evidence before the court showed that experts at the health center are capable and well equipped to manage the condition of the respondents.

She therefore, rejected the bail applications for lacking in merit and ordered accelerated hearing of the matter.

The case has been adjourned till February 8th, 2024 for hearing.
