Court Orders the Remand of Ndume

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered the remand of Senator Ali Ndume at Kuje Correctional Center for failing to produce former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina who is said to have jumped bail.

In a bench ruling delivered by Justice Okon Abang, the court ordered his remand pending the fulfilment of the bail bonds of N500million to the Federal government.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the court also empowered the Federal government to sell Senator Ndume's property at Asokoro in order to recover the N500milion bail bond.

Justice Abang added that the Senator shall be released from Kuje Correctional Center once he is able to pay the said sum or the Federal government is able to dispose of the property.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the ruling, Ndume's counsel said his client will appeal.

Meanwhile, the trial in absentia of Abdulrasheed Maina has been fixed for Tuesday the 24th of November.

Maina faces a lawsuit for alleged fraud in the sum of N2billion.
