Bayelsa Governor Directs Civil Servants, Students To Resume

Bayelsa state Governor Senator Douye Diri has directed that all civil servants from grade level 1 to 12 to resume work at the end of the month.

The governor stated this at an expanded COVID-19 state taskforce meeting in government house, Yenagoa.

The meeting was to review measures put in place in the state to stamp out COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Douye Diri urged Bayelsans to continue to observe the already established guidelines and measures, like the use of face masks, as well as maintaining social distancing.

The Permanent secretary, ministry of health, and co-chairman, state COVID-19 pandemic, Doctor Nathaniel Inodu Apoku, said about twenty students sitting for the senior secondary schools examination in the state have tested positive for the virus.

He stressed that the students are asymptomatic to the virus as the government is putting in place efforts to ensure that other students do not contract the virus.

Our correspondent reports that Governor Douye Diri directed all medical personnel, members of the state volunteers and vigilante services to withdraw from the state borders, except security operatives who are to remain at their duty posts.
