Oyo targets vaccination 40000 children

Worried by the increasing high maternal, newborn and child mortality rates in the country, the Oyo state government has commenced the vaccination of children under the age of five years against killers diseases.

The commissioner for health in the state, Azeez Adeduntan while flagging off the maternal, newborn and child health week in the state, says the overwhelming Nigeria health indices especially those affecting mothers and their children need to be improved upon.

Adeduntan promised that the government will continue to support evidence-based health interventions that will ensure that citizens, especially women and children live their optimum healthy lives.

The chairman of the Ibadan northeast local council development area, Prince Gbade Lana disclosed that 2808 health personnel and 351 town announcers have been trained and ready to disseminate these interventions across the various communities in the state.
