Ogun discharges three COVID-19 patients

Three coronavirus patients have been discharged by the Ogun State government from one of its isolation centres between Wednesday and Thursday.

Commissioner for Health in the state,  Dr Tomi Coker, disclosed this on Thursday during a press conference on the update on COVID-19 in the state.

Coker said the development had brought the total number of patients discharged to six patients with three active cases being cared for by health workers in one of the isolation centres.

She explained that 210 persons, who had contacts with the positive cases, were identified, out of which 110 observed 14 days quarantine period.

Coker said only two of the people quarantined tested positive while the remaining 108 tested negatives on completion of the quarantine period.

Speaking further, Dr. Coker said the  Government has purchased a molecular laboratory as part of its efforts towards flattening the curve of the Coronavirus pandemic in the Country.

She added that the molecular laboratory test is essential in the checks for certain genes, proteins, or other molecules in a sample of tissue, blood, or other body fluid and central in the detection and handling of the Coronavirus.
