Hoodlums Burgle Ogun Assembly, Cart-Away Mace
A case of theft has been reported at the Ogun state House of Assembly, as confirmed by Police Authority in the state.
Reports have it that, the mace, which stands as the official symbol of authority was stolen.
Galaxy TV News findings revealed that the commissioner of Police in the state, Edward Ajogun early Thursday morning, visited the Assembly Premises, following the reported case.
Earlier, Journalists were denied access into the Assembly premises on the directive of the Clerk of the House while security ensured thorough check on every vehicle or individual before access could be granted.
Confirming the incidence, Ogun Police Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said, some suspected hoodlums gained access into Assembly Chambers from the rooftop.
He added that no arrest has been made so far but investigation has commenced to unveil the face of the perpetrators.
In his reaction, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo said he got notified of the incidence in the early hours of the day before resuming for work.
He said the incidence was not politically motivated, stressing that members of the house are working as a united family.
