Delta speaker debunks hate speech allegation

The speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said that passing a bill proscribing hate speech in the state is not an issue since the state is free from it.

Sheriff Oborevwori made the disclosure while speaking with journalists on the allegation against the leadership of the house and the state government of using hate speeches against an APC senator in the state, Senator Oharisi Omo-Agege.

Speaking on the issue, the speaker debunked the allegation of the state governor being a careless talker on political issues.

On the allegation against lawmakers of abandoning their constituency, he described the allegation as baseless.

It will be recalled that since the speaker and lawmakers returned from a vacation in the United States, Deltan’s have continued to criticize the trip as a result of the backlog of salaries owed local government workers, while last month disruption of the empowerment program of Senator Omo-Agege by political thugs in Effurun has led to criticism of the Okowa’s government.
