House Kicks Against Reopening of Land Borders
The House of Representatives on Wednesday kicked against the reopening of the country's land borders.
The rejection followed a motion by 11 lawmakers calling for an urgent need to reopen all land boarders as the closure has yielded no result since the policy came in place.
The motion had asked the Federal Government to instead, invest in better border security and surveillance rather than perpetual closure of the borders.
The motion which gained the support of some lawmakers was however opposed by a few others, who claimed that the reopening of borders would be at the detriment of the country's security and economy.
The motion was however stepped down.
