In a bid to rid the country of illegal importations, the Port Harcourt Area 1 command of the Nigerian customs have seized 1,530kg of pangolin scales as shale, which is a raw material for analysis and containers of canned Mackerel fish which was falsely declared to be carrying Agricultural sprayers into the country.

The command made the seizure of the contraband items which was smuggled into the country under a false declaration of goods title, which they say is anĀ attempt by smugglers to divert their prohibited items through the seaports.

Speaking on the seized items, the comptroller of customs Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) said they acted on a tip-off on the items valued at eight hundred and twenty-six million, two hundred thousand in black market value.

He stressed that the closed borders are not restricted to the south-south or south-east alone, but to the entire country as it will rid the nation of bad and expired products.
