Tevez Scores Man City Winner Over Aston Villa As Rodwell Faces One Month Injury
Roberto Mancini has revealed Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City's FA Cup quarter-final at home to Barnsley on Saturday, while Jack Rodwell faces up to a month on the sidelines.
Aguero was absent from City's 1-0 Premier League win at Aston Villa, with Carlos Tevez selected to lead the line in his compatriot's absence. Tevez netted the game's only goal in the first half.
Mancini said Aguero had a "problem with his knee", revealing he is definitely out of the weekend's FA Cup tie. He may, however, return for City's following game away at Everton.
Rodwell, meanwhile, limped off in the first half of Monday's victory, after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring problem. Mancini had nothing but sympathy for the former Everton man, whose time at City has been severely restricted by fitness issues.
"We are very sorry for Jack, because he is a good guy, a good player, but he is unlucky. It is his hamstring.
"I think it is impossible to resolve his problem after six or seven months because he's had this problem for five or six years and we need maybe more time.
"How long will he be out? Maybe he will be back after the international break, three or four weeks. It is the same injury.
"I am very sorry because he is a young player. He needs to improve but he has played very well against Chelsea and was playing very well tonight," Mancini explained.
