I'm Suprised Over Keshi's Comment - Ike Uche
Ikechukwu Uche has expressed astonishment at recent comments attributed to Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi that he striker lacks tactical discipline.
The Nigerian striker, who had earlier said that he wouldn't be shocked if he does not make the final squad to Brazil 2014 despite his goals for the Yellow Submarines in La Liga, also refused to react further on why Keshi made such a statement about him in the media.
“I do not know why the coach has said those things and do not understand why those words, but I do not appreciate what he said,” Uche said in Spain.
"The truth is that I am surprised and I'm very sad but I don't want to go into this subject.
"For me it is a great season, in which all is going well and I hope to finish better on this stretch of the league.”
Uche was sent off last Sunday while in action for Villarreal against Real Betis but was satisfied with the decision of the Spanish Football Federation Competition Committee to overrule the first yellow card he received in the draw.
The decision means he can play in Saturday's away clash to Granada at Nuevo Los Carmens Stadium.
"It's good news that the first yellow card has been overruled. The move was clearly no foul and I'm glad that we have been proved right. The team was good and that expulsion complicated everything.
"I am contented because I think it's a fair decision. The important thing is that I'll play,"
The former Getafe forward is aware of the difficulty of the game against the Nazari adding that they need to score.
He last featured for Nigeria in the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against Burkina Faso. The Nigerian international is ninth on the La Liga scorers’ chart with 12 goals in the league so far for Villarreal.
