Afcon 2013: Drogba Look Forward To World Cup Qualification

Cote D’Ivoire captain Didier Drogba has said he will continue playing for the national team if his countrymen want him to.

Saddened by the Elephants’ 2-1 defeat in the hands of Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter final match on Sunday, the 34 year-old said that his focus will now be to help the team qualify for the 2014 World Cup Brazil.

“I will keep playing for the national team if the country wants me to. My focus will now be to help the Elephants reach the World Cup next year,” Drogba said.

The veteran forward saw his dream of finally winning an Afcon trophy evaporate as Nigeria scored two goals through Emmanuel Emenike and Sunday Mba. Drogba’s free kick had given Cheik Tiote an opportunity to score the equaliser early in the second half.
