Reps Announce New Date for Plenary Resumption
The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, announced the postponement of the resumption of annual recess, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 17th September to Tuesday, 24th September, 2024. Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Akin Rotimi who disclosed this in a statement made available to Parliamentary Correspondents, unveiled plans for the inauguration of the new board of Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and Joint Senate/House Ad-hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry investigation.
According to him, the new resumption date was convened to Members “via an internal memo by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq on Wednesday, on the directive of House Leadership. He said the recess, Honourable Members engaged extensively in constituency outreach across the country, addressing critical issues of concern to constituents, and deepening oversight of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), in accordance with functions spelt out in the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) and the House Standing Orders.
The lawmaker said upon reconvening, the leadership of the House will inaugurate the new board of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and the Joint Senate/House Ad-hoc Committees on the Petroleum Industry Investigation on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. He said further details regarding the activities will be announced during plenary on the day of resumption. He said the green chamber will continue to drive its Legislative Agenda, focusing on impactful reforms aimed at national development and fulfilling its mandate to the Nigerian people.
