Oyo CP Decries Attack on Police Operatives by Ajaawa Youths

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko has condemned that attack on operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics, attached to the FCIID by youths in Ajawa under Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The Commissioner of Police in a statement issued in Ibadan and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Adewale Osifeso said the team were attacked on Tuesday 28th of June, 2021 while on a lawful investigation in the community.

According to the statement made available to our Correspondent, a similar incident happened on Thursday 27th May 2021 when a team of  IRT/FIB on investigation activities were also attacked by disgruntled youths and hoodlums, who mobilized themselves en masse to unleash mayhem on the officers and as well dispossess them off valuables.

The Commissioner of Police expressed dismay at the needless aggression and hostility towards officers and men of the Force as well as the Command by hoodlums while performing their lawful duties, especially regarding the arrest of criminal offenders in some areas in the state.

She urged Parents, Guardians and all at the apex of societal influence to strongly warn their children and wards against being used by criminals in scuttling the relative tranquillity enjoyed in the state.

While re-affirming the Command's assurances to continually provide comprehensive security to the good people of the State, the Commissioner of Police declared that the Command would not fold it’s hands in docile stupefaction while lives and properties are destroyed as heavy sanctions according to standard best practices would be meted out on any person or group(s) of persons who through their actions or inactions breaches public peace at any point and place in the state.
