The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi Maigari says the establishment of the National Institute of Police Studies is part of president Mohammadu Buhari's commitment to reforming the sector to meet international best practices.

Alhaji Dangyadi made the assertion at the graduation of fifty graduands of the institute.

He said the National Institute of Police Studies was established to create intelligent guided officers and men of the force.

The minister, however, charged the graduands to explore with the knowledge acquired from the Institute so as to regain the public trust for the force.

Earlier, the inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu noted that the core mandate of the Institute is to build a police force that is committed to fighting crimes and criminality stressing that in order to ensure adequate security, the Institute will be extending it's training slot to sister agencies to enhance professionalism.

IGP Adamu urged the officers to deploy knowledge they have acquired towards providing strategic leadership that will inspire other police officers across all ranks to the path of police professionalism 

Director-General of the Nigeria Institute of police studies, Prof. Olu Ogunsakin and one of the graduates at the event, Akani Ezime, commended Adamu's led administration adding that, with the rate at which threat to life and properties are on the increase, hence express optimism that the Institute will seek to address challenges faced by security apparatus in the country.

The police affairs Minister also commissioned the institute's building.

The grandaunts are the pioneer participants of the Institute since it's Establishment in February 2020.
