Makinde Receives COVID-19 Jab
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday received AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine, saying the state has been able to effectively manage the pandemic.
Makinde, while receiving the COVID-19 Jab at the Executive Chambers of the Governor's office said the state government decided to subject the vaccines to sterility test to safeguard the wellbeing of the residents.
Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday flagged off the administration of COVID-19 vaccines to residents of Oyo State following the positive outcome of sterility tests conducted on the vaccines by the team of medical experts in the state.
Recall that the federal government approved a total number of 127,740 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 for the state as part of a measure to combat the pandemic.
Speaking after he received the jab, Makinde who claimed he has a phobia for pain said he decided to take the lead following the positive outcomes of the sterility test conducted by the medical team on the vaccines.
The Governor who declared that the state has been able to effectively manage the pandemic since its outbreak through effective policies and action plans assured residents that the vaccines have no negative side effects.
In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Bashiru Bello said the government has fulfilled all precautionary measures to ensure that the vaccines are safe for residents while the Executive Secretary.

The vaccines were administered on Governor Seyi Makinde and the Secretary to the state Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun by medical Doctors led by Dr. Muideen Olatunji.
