Makinde highlights importance of e-registration to internal security

The Migrant e-registration facilitated by the Nigeria Immigration Service has been described as a worthwhile initiative that is capable of reducing crimes and other social vices in Nigeria.


Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde who gave the commendation during the flag off of the exercise in Ibadan the state capital added that the measure will enhance internal security.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Makinde maintained that the e-registration was coming at an appropriate time to strengthen security across the nation and to assist in proper economic planning.

On his part, the comptroller immigration service, Oyo state command, Saleh Abdullahi explained that the registration would provide a reliable database to assist in combating insecurity, adding that failure to comply would attract a penalty of three years imprisonment or a fine of five hundred thousand nairas.

The Comptroller also stressed that the registration would be free, fast and efficient adding that any migrant above the age of eighteen without diplomatic immunity and living in Oyo state beyond ninety days must be duly registered.
