Operatives of the Joint Task Force code named operation Delta safe have destroyed illegal refining sites at the Bayelsa community of Nembe and Odagwa in Rivers state.

In a statement made available to GALAXYTV by the Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Army public relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, said the discovery of sites were made possible through credible intelligence gathering, saying four illegal refineries, forty two thousand liters of illegally refined products, drums and other accessories were discovered.

According to him, while conducting routine operations in the creeks, fibre boats, pipes and drums used for the illegal bunkering activities as well as massive storage reservoirs were recovered.

While commending the Joint Task Force troops for the renewed vigour, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdulsalam charged them to redouble their efforts in denying criminal elements free space in the Niger Delta region.
