FRSC express concern over tanker crashes
The Sector Commander of the federal road safety corps in Ogun State has expressed concern about crashes involving tankers conveying petroleum products on the highways and advised road users to drive with caution.
The FRSC Boss, Clement Oladele made this known during the evacuation of the two tankers that went up in flames under the Sagamu Interchange Bridge along Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
The said the crash that led to the fire incident occurred directly under the Sagamu Interchange bridge and caused hardship for motorists along the Lagos Ibadan, and Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
Although there was no loss of living, vehicles coming from Lagos were diverted to pass through the lane going to Ijebu-Ode axis before joining the Lagos Ibadan expressway at the other end.
Firefighters say the tankers still have little content of the petroleum motor spirit but they are on standby to prevent another fire outbreak.
The impact of the fire seems to be heavy on the road and the bridge but the Sector Commander of the Road Safety says, they have informed the federal ministry to come for assessment of the portion.
The road is now open for traffic has the trucks have been evacuated.
