#ENDBADGOVERNANCE: Reps To Enact Law To Address Demand Of Protesters

Stakeholders in Nigeria's economic development have expressed support for the House of Representatives' decision to revisit a crucial legislative bill rejected in the 9th Assembly.

Rex Aondoakaa, Director General of IDEALAB Agency, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday stated that the bill's passage would reduce tension in the country, earn the government high public approval, and boost the prospects of winning future elections for the current administration.

He said, If revisited and repositioned, the bill is expected to address the concerns of demonstrators and street protesters of the #EndBadGovernance movement, tackling issues like hunger, illiteracy, and social vices.

Recall that, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas had on July 2, 2024 convened a stakeholder meeting on the need to revisit a necessary legislative bill that was rejected in the 9th Assembly and aligned it to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.

The bill in question is A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Council for Public Assistance to Widows, Dependent Children, and Orphans and Related Matters, 2019,"  formerly sponsored by Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji.
