Doctors Justify Reason For Embarking On Strike
A seven day warning strike has been declared by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors as a result of the abduction of their colleague, Dr Ganiyat Popoola.
In a similar note Galaxy's Oluwadara Akingbohungbe had an interactive session with Resident Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital whereby the Doctors justify reason for embarking on strike.
Dr. Charles Aisudo President, Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital stated that the most important thing is for the association to get their colleague Dr Ganiyat Popoola, He said the essence of the industrial action is to seek for help.
On the other hand Dr. Morolayo Onamusi Social and Welfare Secretary Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Association of Resident Doctors said that according to the National Executive Council meeting a seven day total strike has been declared in order to get help from government for the release of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola.
DR. Charles Aisudo also sympathize with the patients emphasizing that Consultants are on ground to take care of them.
Dr. Ganiyat Popoola is a registrar in the Department of Ophthalmology at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, she was abducted on December 27, 2023 in company of her husband and nephew.
Popoola and her nephew remain in captivity while her husband regain freedom in March.
