CNG calls for improved emergency response

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has emphasized the need for improved emergency response across the country in order to prevent needless loss of lives and property of Nigerians.

The Coalition in a statement issued and signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, while reacting to the tragic tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed over 150 lives and left many injured, console the government and people of Jigawa, particularly in Taura LGA, where the disaster occurred.

The CNG urged the federal and state governments, along with relevant authorities, to take immediate measures to prevent future tragedies, highlighting the need to address infrastructure issues and enforce safety regulations in the transportation of hazardous materials.

It called for improved road safety, healthcare, and emergency response systems, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that every Nigerian feels secure and protected by the state.

The coalition also called on the government to reassess policies that exacerbate the hardships faced by citizens, noting that many victims reportedly saw the spilling fuel as an opportunity for relief in their difficult circumstances.

The CNG prayed for the eternal rest of the departed and protection from future disasters, emphasized the need for unity to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring.
