CJN tasks judicial officers to take their oath serious

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammed has charged all public officers, particularly those in the judiciary to see oath-taking as a commitment to delivering on the demands of office and not to take that for granted.

Galaxy’s Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the CJN made this submission Friday on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho and the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Justice Benedict Kanyip.

At the elaborate ceremony held at the Supreme Court, Justice Tanko urged judicial officers to avoid any situation that will amount to flouting their oath.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, therefore, charged the newly sworn-in judicial officers to avoid being caught up in needless controversy in the course of the job.

Prior to Friday’s swearing-in ceremony both judicial officers had been in the offices of Chief Judge of the Federal High Court and President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in acting capacity.
