Army killed notorious criminal in Rivers
The Nigerian Army 6 Division in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital says his troop, in conjunction with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps killed notorious cultist and illegal oil bunkering kingpin Korobe Menele popularly known as Mene.
In a statement made available to Galaxy news by the Deputy Army Public Relations Officer Aminu Iliyasu, said the suspect was killed after a long chase in a white Hilux when he killed a soldier and two NSCDC officers guarding SHELL facilities in Tai local government area of Rivers state.
The suspect according to the Army has an illegal oil bunkering gang who are behind major oil theft in the state.
Some of the accomplices of the notorious kingpin fled into the bush with gunshot wounds, while he was unlucky after their operational Hilux vehicle was demobilized with superior firepower.
The GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army Major Gen. Jamil Sarham promised to bring illegal oil bunkering to the barest minimum level in the state.
Items recovered from the suspect includes an AK 47 and 2 G3 rifle taken from the killed soldier and NSCDC officers.
Efforts are on according to the command to arrest the fleeing suspects.
