Abudlrasheed Maina Remanded in Kuje Correctional Center
Justice Okon Abang of the Federal high court, Abuja has remanded the former chairman of the pension reform task team Abudlrasheed Maina in Kuje correctional centre pending the conclusion of his trial.
The Judge made this order pursuant to the application made by the prosecution that the defendant is in court due to a bench warrant issued on him on 18th November
In a short ruling, Justice Abang held the defendant is still presumed innocent until proven guilty and is entitled to his rights under the constitution.
He noted in view of the bench warrant issued on him and his bail having been revoked, the defendant shall be remanded in Kuje correctional centre pending the conclusion of his trial.
This decision by the Court comes barely 24 hours following his extradition back to Nigeria from the neighbouring Republic of Niger.
Meanwhile, Maina's legal team has ceased from taking further part in his case scheduled to resume on 8 December 2020.
Maina is facing 12-count bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N2billion.
